There is something magical about waterfalls. With their power, beauty and tranquillity they act as a reminder of the wonder of Mother Nature. If you are interested in waterfalls and want to go on a worldwide journey, then here are six of the best that shouldn’t be missed.

Niagara Falls
This is probably the world’s most famous waterfall. With its magnificent grandeur, Canada’s finest attraction brings hundreds of thousands of tourists to Ontario annually. It’s not, therefore, one for those looking for a solitary experience!
Yosemite
Yosemite is a must for anyone journeying along the west coast of America. The sixth-highest waterfall in the world can be found in the Yosemite National Park in California. And with a number of other waterfalls to be seen in the park and surrounding area, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice!
Victoria Falls
If its scale that you are after then nothing beats Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Several times longer than and twice as high as Niagara Falls, Victoria Falls are also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (‘the smoke that thunders’) and this is certainly an apt name. Don’t get stuck without enough cash here, though, as there are no ATMs that accept foreign cards in the area.
Dettifoss
If you’re looking to stay in Europe, Iceland’s Dettifoss waterfall is the largest and most impressive that you’ll find. Part of the Jökulsárgljúfur National Park in the north east of the country, the Dettifoss is the most powerful in Europe, with a flow of 200 cubic metres per second.
Huangguoshu Falls
Asia’s largest waterfall can be found in Guizhou Province in China. There are a number of different viewing places to view this spectacular water feature. Be sure to see the Water Curtain Cave, a naturally occurring cave situated at the rear of the waterfall.
Angel Falls
If it’s isolation that you are interested in, then the Venezuelan Angel Falls might be the right choice. The tallest waterfall in the world is situated in the Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The falls are not easily reached as they are in isolated jungle territory, but a river trip or helicopter ride can take you there.
Whether you are looking for the impressive force of a grand waterfall, the magical solitude of an isolated one, or something in between, the world certainly has some magnificent sights to offer you.
