SEO for Travel Blogs

The Basics of SEO for Travel Blogs

If you have launched a travel blog then you do deserve a proverbial pat on the back for taking the initiative to design, develop, and publish such a blog. Many people will talk about creating a high quality travel blog but they will not put forth the required effort to make such a blog a reality. Now, while you certainly do deserve a little praise for creating the blog, you need to realize the creation of the blog is not enough. To truly make the blog successful, you will need to boost its presence in the search engines. That means you need to undertake proper steps for SEO for travel blogs.

Before you start to wonder if this process is going to be complicated or involved, here is some good news: SEO for travel blogs will follow many of the basic search engine optimization steps that would be required of any website. However, you want to tailor your SEO work so that it benefits a travel blog in the most impactful manner. You do not want to engage in an overly generic SEO process because this will not deliver the same impactful results that a SEO strategy designed for travel blogs  will deliver.

For example, link building is a must for any SEO venture. And, quite honestly, virtually any link you acquire will have some value. But, if you want to maximize the value of your link building you will need to acquire relevant links. That means when you place links on websites, blogs, message boards, etc you will need to be sure such sources are related to the travel industry. This makes the links relevant and, as a result, more valuable to your SEO rankings.

On a side note, it is also best the links are one-way. These types of links will have inherently more value than reciprocal traded links.

It also becomes vitally important that the design of the website take search engine optimization strategies into consideration as well. That means the blog will need to be filled with valuable content that makes the blog appeal valuable in the eyes of the search engine robots. Sparse text and a few illustrations will not make a website standout. Rather, it will need article, info, and text that enhances the value of the blog. Also, the text will need to be updated fairly regularly as static content on a site undermines SEO potential.

The text of the travel blog is also going to require the proper keyword integration. Keywords are those words and/or phrases that are incorporated into the text of a website that match the terms people will search for in the engines. By performing proper keyword research and analysis, you can find the right terms to use and then effectively weave them into the text of the site. This will enhance your search engine ranking potential immensely.

So, is SEO for travel blogs all that difficult of a process to take part in? No, it is not all that difficult. You just need to be willing to put the right effort into the process.

    Interesting topic.

Though I think actual travel blog references would be more useful to the readers of this site.

The Everywhereist is one of my favorite, off beat travel writers, though she tends to stay stateside.

When I write my posts on my travel blog or any blog for that matter, I try to use a keyword tool to see what words or phrases would generate the most traffic if I could rank for them.
However, I did make one mistake when setting up my travel blog, and that was to not have the urls be keyword rich. Since I have so many blog posts, I think it is a little late to change the link you have any thoughts on that?
