To Do’s and Don’ts for Your Travel Blog

The things to Do and things Not to Do when blogging

actually applies to all kind of blogs and not only to travel blogs. I have focused here on travel blogging because it’s my passion, but anyone could be successful with this tips, so if you own a blog that is not about travel, read the following and just ignore the word travel 😉

Everyone wants to be a successful travel blogger. What would be the point of publishing a travelblog if you were not serious interested in making sure the finished product was a positive one? In some instances, people develop weak travel blogs simple because they are unaware of what they should do and what they should not do when blogging. Here are a few of the more helpful do’s and don’ts:

Do look at other travel blogs and see what makes them successful. Success can be duplicated and when you examine other travel blogs and see what makes them successful, you can use such blogs as a guide to making sure your own travel blog does what it need to do in order to deliver impactful results.

Do not try to be overly derivative of what the other travel blogs are doing. There is a difference between modeling the positive attributes of a successful travel blog and then attempting to be derivative of one. You do not want to be derivative because all this does is make you look like a weak copycat. And who would want that?

Do try to build traffic for your travel blog. The more targeted traffic that is driven to your travel blog, the more popular it will be. As such, targeted traffic building and generation needs to always be a top priority.

Do regularly update your travel blog. When days or, worse, weeks go by and you have not added any entries to your travel blog you will find it incredibly difficult to maintain a solid following of readers. Also, the search engines will start to frown on those blogs that are not frequently updating content. So, be sure that you are regularly contributing to your travel blog or else the value of the blog will diminish.

Do not stuff the travel blog with boorish, trite entries just to give the impression you are frequently updating it. This is little more than hack writing and it will drive off your readers. And would that not undermine the purpose of adding the blog entries in the first place?

Do write well written, grammatically correct entries. No, you do not need to have the skills of a PhD in English Literature but your writing should be professional and literate. If not, it will look amateurish which means it will not maintain an audience for long.

Do not try to make your writing sound “elevated” or cerebral though. This will give the impression of trying too hard and it will generally yield poor quality writing. There is no value in that.

Do not overspend to generate traffic. There are a lot of services out there that charge quite a bit for your ability to amass traffic. Are they necessary? In some instances, they can be. However, there are always inexpensive means in which you can generate targeted traffic to a travel blog. As such, you need not feel locked into to any processes that require overspending for traffic generation.

I am still thinking about joining blog engage community for quite a while now. And based on what others are saying, they are really providing such good and excellent results for serious bloggers.

About your do’s and don’ts tips, I think you said it well. One thing I can add here is that try to be different and unique. You can copy the trail other bloggers do took but make sure you are doing it in your own unique way. It can make you stand out in the future.

I came across the blog engage service this morning and still deciding whether or not to do it. can I include to your list, the importance of Twitter, Facebook and Stumble-upon interacting. I don’t mean just posting links to your own site but actively getting involved with the circle you are traveling in.
